Community Arts Center of Cambria County The Community Arts Center is an ideal location for hosting special events such as receptions, showers, graduation, and birthday parties.  The upstairs large event room holds between 65-85 guests based on a seated vs. cocktail style event; it has vaulted ceilings, large windows, and outdoor access.  The Ponas Doll Room is a slightly more intimate alternative, holding 30-40 guests, and is surrounded by our permanet doll collection.  Outdoor space is also available for larger gatherings.  The Arts Center provides rates for both members and non-members, and can be utilized 7 days a week throughout the year, (special Sunday rates may apply).

Blueberry Meadows at Kicky's Ridge Blueberry Meadows is nestled amongst forty-five acres of meadows and forest.  Two rental cabins are available: the Mountain Chalet and the Blacksmith Cottage.

Each Cabin has off-road parking for two vehicles, outside propane grill, a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, full living room, full bathroom, flat screen TV with satellite programming and DVD player.

Blueberry Meadows is pet friendly.

The Mountain Chalet has two decks, a glass enclosed sunporch and outside fire-pit with firewood.

The Blacksmith Cottage has two decks, a mudroom, and a fire-pit with firewood.

Sandyvale Wine Festival Experience Friday, September 8, 2017:  Wine Dinner at the Crown Ballroom at the Holiday Inn, Market Street in Downtown Johnstown. 
Saturday, September 9, 2017: Wine Festival at Sandyvale Memorial Gardens and Conservancy, 80 Hickory Street in Johnstown. The festival includes music, art, food, spirits, craft beers, and wine in a beautiful outdoor garden venue with vendors and entertainment.

Proceeds from these events support continued improvements at Sandyvale Memorial Gardens, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to preserving this historic site and providing educational opportunities to the community. Tickets to these events are available on the website.

Johnstown Flood National Memorial National Park Service Site located at the ruins of the South Fork Dam that burst May 31, 1889.  Visitor center which exhibits a life-size "debris wall" that dramatically illustrates the flood wave that devasted Johnstown.  The film, Black Friday, chillingly recreates that day in 1889. Picnic area. Trails around dam's remains, interpretive programs.

Johnstown Flood Museum The Johnstown Flood Museum recreates the 1889 Flood with exhibits, artifacts, and the Academy Award(R) winning film, The Johnstown Flood, the only museum-commissioned documentary that has won an Academy Award(R) in the short subject documentary category.  Exhibits also include "The Oklahoma House," a pre-fabricated structure sent to Johnstown to house flood survivors.

St. Michael Historic Site and 1889 Club House Several historic structures once part of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club which owned the South Fork Dam and Lake Conemaugh when the dam failed on May 31, 1889.  The three-story clubhouse had 47 rooms and lodged most of the members of the club.  Clubhouse is open for visitation during the summer months as part of "Journey Around Lake Conemaugh" Van Tours.

Grandview Cemetary/Plot of the Unknown The Monument of Tranquility overlooks the Unknown Plot of 777 graves of unidentified 1889 Johnstown Flood Victims.  Also interred are Lt. Col. Boyd "Buzz" Wagner, the first American air ace of World War II and John G. McCrory, founder of the McCrory 5-and-10 store chain. Groups welcome.

Stone Arch Bridge Built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1887, the bridge survived the 1889 Flood but caused greater devastation as flood waters and debris, unable to pass through the arches, caught fire.  For three hours every evening, the bridge is lighted with colorful LED lights that are programmed to reflect holidays, special events, and the time of year, beginning with a 20-minute lightshow.

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site The construction and operation of the Allegheny Portage Railroad was one of the greatest engineering feats of the 19th century.  Visitor Center, restored historic Lemon House tavern, hands on exhibits, and full-scale models in the Engine House Interpretive Building.  Picnic area, hiking, and cross-country ski trails.

Johnstown Inclined Plane The Inclined Plane carries passengers and automobiles up and down a 71% grade hillside measuring 900 feet from the valley below.  Enjoy a breathtaking view of the city from our observation deck.  Stroll through the souvenir shop.  Visitor center, restaurant, ice cream shop, exhibits, and Centennial Flag. Johnstown Heritage Discovery Center's Mystery of Steel Exhibit Spectacular, three-story Iron & Steel Gallery includes a theater where the film "The Mystery of Steel" tells the story of how Johnstown played a crucial role in the early days of the steel industry.  It explains how innovations developed here helped transform America into a modern industrial nation.  See high-definition footage of Johnstown's steel mills in 1992, just weeks before the mills closed.

Gallitzin Tunnels Park & Museum Identified by railroad buffs as a "must see" stopover! The twin tunnels are the highest and longest tunnels on the former Pennsylvania Railroad.  The first tunnel completed the railroad west and made the tunnels so valuable that they were guarded by the Pennsylvania Railroad Police during war times.  Historic railroad museum with many RR and mining artifacts and video in the theater. Restored PRR caboose. Park open daily- staffed dependent on volunteer availability from noon to 4 p.m. Mon-Sat., April-October. Extended hours for tour groups. Free.

Miners Memorial Museum While visiting the Johnstown Flood Memorial, stop by for a glimpse of the region's coal mining heritage.  Located along Lake Road. Open seasonally.

Seldom Seen Valley Tourist Coal Mine An exciting, unforgettable trip where coal seams, millions of years old, were dug by hand, loaded on cars and hauled from the mine by the mules.  Former miners guide tourists and share details of their work experiences.

"America: Through Immigrant Eyes" Frank & Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center Experience first-hand the life of an immigrant to Johnstown around the turn of the century and the sights and sounds of the immigrants' daily lives.  Discover how they built a rich cultural heritage that's still celebrated today.  A national story told in a local context.  Features the Iron & Steel Gallery and "Mystery of Steel," film.  Also at the Heritage Discovery Center: Johnstown Children's Museum, Galliker's Cafe', Ethnic Social Club, and many events and activities throughout the year.

Wagner-Ritter House and Garden Inhabited by the same family from when it was built in the 1860s through 1990, this one-of-a-kind house museum was restored to its 19th-century appearance, illustrating the domestic lives of immigrants who moved to Johnstown to work in the steel mills and coal mines.

Bottleworks: Arts on Third Avenue Join us as we preserve our cultural diversity through celebrations of heritage and tradition throughout the year.  Bottleworks offers exhibits, workshops, outdoor festivals, cooking classes, art classes, performances and special events.  Art Works is "the place" to "Exhibit, Create, Teach and Sell" art.  Housed in a unique, state-of-the-art building where visitors engage with studio artists, take classes, see live performances, and purchase art. 

Twin Towers Structural Beam Structural beam from one of New York's Twin Towers from the September 11, 2001 tragedy.  Johnstown is one of only five cities in the U.S. that has an actual part of the Towers.  Located beside St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic pavilion, the structure serves as a permanent memorial for the victims and heroes of 9/11. 

Servant of God Demetrius Gallitzin's Tomb Located adjacent to the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel in an underground crypt, Fr. Gallitzin rests inside a 2,300 lb. sealed air tight vault.  The tomb is open to the public April through October.

Mount Assisi Sunken Gardens & Renaissance Mansion Beautiful flower gardens, fountains, rock gardens, shrines, reflections ponds, and religious statues on the property of the Franciscan Friars.  Former summer estate of Bethlehem Steel magnate, Charles Schwab.  Open to the public from dawn until dusk.  Located across from St. Francis University on the Ebensburg-Loretto road.

Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Built as a gift to the parish of Charles Schwab.  Romanesque basilica with Gothic features and designed in the shape of a Latin cross.  Three bells; four Italian marble altars; the organ, a gift from Andrew Carnegie; Mexican onyx Communion railing; Stations of the Cross imported from Italy.

Prince Gallitzin Chapel House Father Gallitzin's Chapel House contains a sanctuary with beautiful, stained glass windows and religious artifacts along with a residential area once occupied by Father Gallitzin.  Personal effects on display including his Mass vessels, vestments made by his mother, his violin and writings, his rope bed, clock, personal desk, Gallitzin family seal, and photographs.  Tours available by appointment

The Shrine of our Lady of the Alleghenies A symbol of the heroic missionary devotion that Father Gallitzin extended to Our Blessed Mother and his Catholic colony in the Loretto wilderness.  Located between the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel and the Prince Gallitzin Chapel House, Loretto.

The Log House Arts Festival The Log House Arts Festival is an annual event held on the grounds of the Community Arts Center during Labor Day weekend.  Artisans, crafters, both local and national, provide a unique, handcrafted festival shopping experience.  Live entertainment, from musicians, dance teams, and magicians, delights the crowds.  The Log House Arts Festival is a family-friendly environment offering raffles and prizes, excellent dining options, and has been a staple in the community for over 48 years.

Cambria County Historical Society and Museum Explore Cambria County's history in the restored A.W. Buck House.  Resources available for historical and genealogical research.  Groups welcome by appointment.  Open year round, except February.  Museum admission free.  Fee for research library. 

Old Stone Jail Built in 1873, the Old Stone Jail cemented Ebensburg's role as county seat.  The 1911 annex is used today as a county records center.

Arcadia Theater 694-seat live performing theater that features music, children's shows, and plays.

Thunder in the Valley Motorcycle Rally In June, 1998, Johnstown hosted its first motorcycle rally.  That may not seem like a big deal, but for a town that had been most recognized for its history, the annual Thunder in the Valley Motorcycle Rally has helped to create a new identity in Johnstown. Historic downtown Johnstown is the hub of the rally.  Multiple venues with food booths, vendors, live music, kids' activities, manufacturer displays, demo rides, and stunt shows offer something for everyone.  The Thunder Bolt Saloons offer Anheuser-Busch products and a variety of mixed drinks at three outdoor venues.  The official Thunder Parade rolls through the town at high noon on Saturday, where thousands line the street to watch the seemingly endless stream of motorcycles rumble by.  Local restaurants and bars welcome bikers with events and promotions, and other organizations host poker runs, hill climbs, bike contets, and other activities.  No admission fee!

Portage Station Museum and Theatre Located in the 1926 original (restored) railroad depot building in Portage.  Extraordinary displays of area history and culture formed through the influences of coal mining, railroads, steel, forests, water, and recreation.  Pennsylvania Railroad artifacts, exhibits, train viewing, and the video, 63 Men Down.

Cambria County Courthouse A significant example of Vicorian Second Empire architecture.  Courtroom I is a 500-seat "auditorium setting" and is one of the largest courtrooms in the United States.  A beautiful stained glass dome displays the county seal while two murals painted during the Great Depression are featured on the second floor.  Guided tours by appointment.

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County Holly Bazaar The Holly Bazaar is a unique festival held at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, running mid-November - Christmas Eve.  The bazaar features holiday crafts and gifts handmade by local crafters and artisans.  There are fantastic raffles, door prizes, and 100 gift baskets to be won in the Basket Bonanza, along with children's activities, and the Festival of the Trees.  Each Saturday features live entertainment by local musicians or ensembles, including a surprise visit from Santa and Jingles, the Community Arts Center's live snowman.
