About
About Beach and Park Chalet - Chalet Restaurant Group
With unimpeded views of the Pacific Ocean and Ocean Beach, Beach and Park Chalet is the only venue in San Francisco to feature these views PLUS views and access to Golden Gate Park. Beach Chalet offers floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the California sun and sunsets in our multiple private dining spaces. Downstairs, Park Chalet sits beneath a glass atrium, overlooking Golden Gate Park. Park Chalet features a fireplace, a dedicated bar, indoor and outdoor spaces, and a manicured garden surrounded by Golden Gate Park's eucalyptus trees.
If you are standing with your toes in the sand on Ocean Beach, or driving on Highway 101, look east towards Golden Gate Park and you will see the Beach Chalet. The Beach Chalet is a Spanish colonial revival style, historic landmark that has gone from gleaming eatery called the Golden Gate Park Chalet, built by Willis Pol in 1925, to Army headquarters to dangerous dive bar to now, a renovated upscale restaurant and event venue with unimpeded ocean views.
WPA Murals and Frescos depicting real people and scenes from San Francisco in the 1930s were painted by Lucien Adolphe Labaudt in 1936 and line the first floor walls. The Beach Chalet sits above the frescos, up a carved banister, with octopus, sea maidens and fish, to a second story with windows that span the entire bar and dining room. The view of the Pacific, and it’s glimmering sunsets, is amazing.
Built much later and just a few steps behind the Beach Chalet is our Park Chalet. Here, travelers, neighbors and city goers have the option of a little more relaxed vibe with indoor and outdoor seating.
The Park Chalet is the ideal location for outdoor ceremonies and events, wheras Beach Chalet offers the best views of the Pacific, in all of San Francisco - a treat for visitors and locals, alike.
