Wildlife activity varies with the seasons so ask the rangers for advice on good places for viewing.

Stargazing and Night Skies Programs Don't miss one of Shenandoah's most dramatic views - the brilliant stars overhead. Far away from city lights, the park's night skies offer spectacular views of the stars. A free Night Skies program followed by stargazing with provided telescopes is offered monthly from April thru September at the Big Meadows area (mile 51.2). Program times vary, call 888.896.3833.

Exploring Skyline Drive Skyline Drive, designated as a National Scenic Byway, is much more than just a 105-mile road through the park - it is a way to experience it. Driving along the crest of the mountains through the woods and past spectacular vistas, youll likely see deer and other wildlife.
