Peppermill Resort Embarks on Another Remodel
The Peppermill, which in recent years has invested more than $400 million in its new Tuscany Tower, convention space, restaurants and other amenities, will soon begin a $15.8 million renovation and remodel of its Peppermill Tower.
The renovations, which start next month, include a remake of all 395 hotel rooms in the tower and the addition of a $2.3 million high-tech executive boardroom.
The executive boardroom should help the Peppermill's convention business, hotel executives said.
"When you are booking high-end corporate meetings, a lot of your associations and government groups require an upscale boardroom," said Patrick Flynn, the executive director of hotel operations and sales. "It is a component that we currently don't offer. But we are taking your typical square boardroom to another level. If you look at some of the other boardrooms, they are very nice but basically, they are a square room with a table and screen. But we have really raised the bar with this two-story private boardroom with private rest room facilities."
The upstairs will have a 31-foot oak and marble table with 26 seats and another 20 just behind it. It will have a wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor video and movie screen plus six 62-inch flat screen high-definition televisions.
The downstairs, which will be connected to the upstairs by a spiral staircase, will have more meeting space plus food and beverage facilities.
A key component will be a Polycom teleconferencing system, said Don Picerno, the Peppermill's director of technical services.
"From this room, our guests will be able to do a webinar out to 1,000 people," Picerno said. " Our guests will be able to teleconference with board members who can't make it in. We can create an immersed teleconference environment where our guests can have a board meeting with remote locations throughout the world."
