Cambridge, UK - Meet Cambridge Event Generates Business Worth Over £700K

A recent Cambridge event, which provided a one-stop shop for event organisers, has resulted in exhibitors receiving enquiries topping £700,000.

Meet Cambridge, held at The Gillespie Centre at Clare College in January, featured representatives from 30 different academic venues, offering their facilities for a range of different events including residential conferences, one-day meetings and private dinners.

Well over 100 event organisers attended and of those who responded to the post-event feedback, 67% placed an enquiry at a venue during the course of the evening. Almost 50% came along with a specific event in mind and wanted to find a suitable venue.

Post-event feedback also revealed that 85% of event feedback were attracted to Meet Cambridge because of the opportunity to see so many venues under one roof.

The event was organised by Conference Cambridge, the official venue finding service for the University of Cambridge and the Colleges.

Judith Sloane, Assistant Manager of Conference Cambridge said: “This is the first time we have held such an event and we were delighted not only with general feedback, but the genuine business that has resulted.

“Several venues took provisional bookings on the day and since then two have already contracted. The overall level of lodged enquiries which totals £700K will now hopefully be converted into firm bookings by our venues. As a result of the success, we are already considering running a similar event in the future”.
