Stony Brook University is located in Stony Brook, N.Y., a Long Island village 65 miles east of New York City. Our location on the North Fork of Long Island offers a central meeting point for guests wishing to visit iconic Manhattan or the glamorous Hamptons. We are easy to reach by air, rail, ferry or car. Extending across more than 1,000 acres, our main campus provides the perfect setting for a variety of conferences and special events. From classrooms to ballrooms, estates to arenas, we have a venue for every occasion, size and budget.

The Charles B. Wang Center is an Asian-inspired venue ideal for hosting a variety of conferences and events. A unique conference facility, the Center’s versatile 124,000-square-foot layout features 5 multi-purpose meeting rooms of varying sizes, 2 lecture halls, a fully equipped 239-seat theater as well as four open-air lobbies and a non-denominational chapel.

Stony Brook University’s Student Activities Center features the range of 2 ballrooms, 1 auditorium, and 11 meeting rooms, there is a space in the Students Activities Center that will suit your event’s unique features. Our facility can support an event as small as an 18 person conference to a 600 person movie viewing, and everything in between.

With the capacity to accommodate 75 people, the Sunwood Estate is an ideal location for smaller conferences, corporate meetings, VIP dinners and weddings. The 8,300-square-foot cedar-shake structure doubles as the president’s home and as a cultural retreat for lectures, receptions and seminars sponsored by the University. Student art is showcased along the walls of the estate. Located on 26 acres, with gardens and a beachfront, the building has a public entrance that leads into a grand foyer and a private entrance for current president Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr.

Located on the north shore of Old Field, overlooking Flax Pond, the Childs Mansion property has a legacy of owners dating back to 1797. But the renovations made by Eversley Childs in 1911 are what make this space remarkable, with handsome porticoes, solid oak floorboards and ornate mantelpieces. Childs Mansion is ideal for casual, relaxed business groups of 35-50, and provides a perfect location for, smaller conferences, seminars and retreats, luncheons, casual barbecues
