Conference Cambridge and Oxford Share Event Planning Ideas
The traditionally-held view of Oxford and Cambridge being arch rivals did not hold true when Conference Organisers from the two cities met recently to share ideas.
Hosted by Conference Cambridge, the official, free venue-finding service for the University of Cambridge, the day included tours around several colleges including St. John’s, Magdalene and Robinson, as well as meetings with College Conference Managers.
The Oxford guests enjoyed lunch in the Wordsworth Room at St John’s College, a 450-year old room where William Wordsworth lived when he was an undergraduate. The menu included: Date Crusted Canon of Lamb and Water Pudding served with seasonal berries and Japanese salted ice cream in a tuille basket.
Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge said: “We were delighted to welcome the party from Conference Oxford and to be able to reciprocate the hospitality we had received on our visit to them earlier this year. Sharing ideas and examples of good practice is always useful and it was interesting to know that we share some of the same challenges. We hope this will become a regular forum for exchanging ideas”.
Conference Cambridge was established in 1998 and represents 36 venues including 29 Cambridge colleges, as well as University sites, Faculty buildings Cambridge University Press and the Møller Centre. A total of 550 function rooms and 6500 bedrooms are available.
